Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has beauty, power and magic in it.
That Goethe quote has hung over my desk for the past twenty years. It's gotten me through the writing of three fiction novels, and gave me the guts to try to make a reborn doll like the beautiful babies I found on Ebay. I didn't necessarily believe I could make them well, but I knew I wished I could, dreamed I could…and so I tried. It's funny how we stumble onto our niche.
Right now I believe I have the best job in the world – surrounded by beautiful babies. I'm a mom, step-mom, foster mom, step-grandmom, and adoptive mom. Babies have always been my passion. They are PERFECT. But in reality, we can only have so many human babies before we run out of energy (and money!). In August of 2005, when my youngest real babies were two-years-old, I began making reborns. I had no idea I would love it so much, or would become so engrossed in the art. My art background is limited to High School art as an elective…where we could eat donuts in class (woo-hoo!), which was my real reason for taking it. If I could learn to reborn dolls, that just goes to show you never know what you can do until you try.
